VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- In Valdosta on Monday, the city celebrated all things Georgia Grown and welcomed the state's First Lady, Marty Kemp, to a local middle school.
Mrs. Kemp visited Newbern Middle School, getting an up-close look at the school's pollinating garden, which serves as an outdoor classroom that teaches kids about plants, life science and the value of local agriculture.
"I'm just really impressed at their excitement, what they've learned, how they're excited to tell me," First Lady Kemp said. "All of them want to tell me something about it and they can watch their hard work grow. That's just a satisfaction to them that their hard work paid off."
The visit was in honor of Georgia Agriculture Week.
