Irma altering weekend sports schedules in Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- With the threat of Hurricane Irma looming large, football games across the high school and college levels have altered their start times for the upcoming week.

At the high school level, the following games involving Big Bend teams have been altered:

  • Florida High vs. Madison Co. - Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (WCTV's Game of the Week)
  • Leon vs. Sandalwood - Thursday at 6 p.m.
  • Lafayette vs. Chiefland - Thursday at 7 p.m.
  • Godby vs. Lake Mary - Thursday at 7 p.m.
  • Maclay vs. Holy Trinity - Cancelled
  • Lincoln vs. Palm Beach Central - Cancelled
  • Wakulla vs. Taylor County - Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Franklin County vs. Bell - Thursday at 7 p.m.
  • Branford vs. St. John Lutheran - Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Lanier County vs. Grove - Thursday (Georgia)

    At the college level, the following teams have altered their Saturday kickoff schedule.

  • Florida State vs. Louisiana-Monroe - Saturday at 12 p.m.
  • Florida vs. Northern Colorado - Saturday at 12 p.m.
  • FIU vs. Alcorn State - Friday at 6 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama
  • South Florida at UConn - Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
  • UCF vs. Memphis - Friday at 6:30 p.m.
  • Miami at Arkansas State - Cancelled

    The NFL also announced on Tuesday that the season opener between the Dolphins and Buccaneers would be postponed until November 19.
