TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A settlement has been reached in the civil case involving allegations of a 2012 rape against Jameis Winston. Winston is the former star quarterback for FSU, and is now a NFL quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Many on campus say they just hope everyone can move on from all of this.

Sierra Margolies is about to graduate from FSU. She said, "It definitely highlight some issues I think a lot of college campuses face. In some ways, I'm glad to have observed it from being a student here so I can have that perspective on it."

Some students say they hope the whole issue can be settled now that the civil lawsuit against Winston has been settled.

Winston's attorney, John A. Boudet, said, "the cases--her claim and his counterclaim--have been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties."

Terms of the settlement are confidential.

FSU student Kaela Bertolino said, "It definitely shed some unwanted light on the university and brought up some controversial issues. But, I'm happy that it's finally over."

Erika Kinsman sued Winston last year for an incident she says happened in December 2012. She reported Winston raped her in an apartment after getting drunk at a Tallahassee bar.

He said it was consensual sex.

FSU student Hanna Niapis said, "I thought it was kind of exaggerated and over-played, the who situation, and kind of too much attention was brought to it. It became too much of a big scandal when it really wasn't a big of a deal. I think that he didn't really do anything wrong."

Gustavo Contreras, and FSU student, said, "If it did happen that she got the justice that she deserved. If it didn't, then that the case got settled and I'm glad to hear that it's over."

FSU settled its Title IX lawsuit Kinsman filed against the university in January of this year for $950,000.

FSU was not involved in the civil suit.

ORLANDO, Fla. (WCTV) -- Former FSU quarterback Jameis Winston is settling with the woman accusing him of rape.

Wednesday, attorneys filed paperwork in an Orlando District Court.

Court documents say Winston and his accuser, then-FSU student Erica Kinsman, have reached a compromise. They'll likely file motions for dismissal within 20 days.

Kinsman claimed the now former Florida State quarterback sexually assaulted her in December 2012. Winston was never charged with a crime.

An attorney for Winston issued a statement to WCTV that reads, "I can confirm that the matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties."

WCTV has also reached out to Kinsman's attorneys for comment, and are waiting for comment.
