TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A student sustained injuries after a Leon County school bus was rear-ended while at a stop on Blountstown Highway and Stoutamire Road Thursday morning.

According to Chris Petley, Communications Manager for Leon County Schools, the collision happened around 6:30 a.m. The bus was headed for Amos P. Godby High School.

Petley says six students were on the bus at the time of the crash and one student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A student who was waiting to get on the bus when the crash happened was also treated for a "medical incident".

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bus had just turned on its stop lights when the SUV rear ended the bus. Troopers say the SUV driver, 57-year-old Phobe Heirs, was not paying attention. Heirs was cited for careless driving.

A replacement bus was sent out to pick up the remaining students and continue on the bus route.
