TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Leon High has found their new head football coach, and it's someone very familiar to red and white. Garrett Jahn was named the school’s new head coach on Tuesday.

In 2016, Jahn-- who played for Leon from 1996-1999-- was inducted to the Lions Football Hall Of Fame.

Jahn was the head coach at Chiles High for three years, and lead the Lions to a trip to the post-season two years ago.

After playing at Leon High, Jahn went on to play quarterback at Florida Atlantic University.

A search will begin Wednesday at Chiles to find Jahn's replacement.

The announcement comes just two weeks after former Leon head coach Tim Cokely resigned to accept another head coaching job at White County High School in Cleveland, Georgia.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Leon High School is the latest Big Bend high school looking for a new head football coach. Tim Cokely resigned today to accept another head coaching job at White County High School in Cleveland, Georgia.

Cokely was the head coach at Leon for four years and led the Lions to the postseason last season.

Behind Cokely, the Lions were 6-3 this season. In Cokely’s four seasons, the Lions were 18-23 and reached the playoffs in three of his four years. The Lions return solid talent next for the 2017 campaign, and have already begun conditioning and weight training in preparation for spring.

Leon High Athletic Director Mark Feely said, “Coach Cokely brought improvement to our program each year. We appreciate his effort here and wish him luck. We will immediately advertise our coaching position and begin our search for a new head coach immediately.”

Since Cokely took over at Leon, he has seen more than 40 of his players sign to play college football.
