Lincoln hires former FAMU, NFL QB as head football coach
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A former Florida A&M Rattler is coming back to Tallahassee to coach the Lincoln Trojans.
Lincoln High School announced Thursday that it's hiring Mandarin (Jacksonville) High School coach Quinn Gray to head up its football program.
Gray recently announced that he was leaving Mandarin after one season. He has also served as an assistant with FAMU Football.
Gray played college football at FAMU from 1998 to 2001. He then spent five years with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2002-2007, and also a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008.
Gray replaces Yusuf Shakir, who had coached at Lincoln since 2009, before stepping down as head coach in March.
Shakir led the Trojans to a 2010 state championship and coached over 70 players who went on to play football in college, including two (Buck Allen and Ryan White) who went on the play in the NFL.
