QUINCY, Fla. (WCTV) -- This is a big weekend for moms -- and florists.

Mother's Day accounts for one-fourth of the floral purchases made for holidays. According to the National Retail Federation, 69 percent of those celebrating Mother’s Day, will buy mom flowers. The survey says spending on flowers is estimated at $2.6 billion in 2017.

Ron Green, the owner of the Greenery Floral and Tuxedo Place in Quincy, says he's been non-stop busy.

Green has been doing it all, from answering the phone, taking orders, greeting customers, designing, and even making the deliveries.

He said, "You want to treat every customer like they're your only customer."

He needs plenty of help for a holiday like this. "Even though it's Mother's Day. I'm here helping out my son as usual." Said his mother, Terri Keys.

What could Green possibly make his mother do on Mother's Day weekend? "Basically I've been doing just whatever. He's the boss, he's in charge. So, whatever he tells me to do, that's what I do." She said.

However, he doesn't forget about treating his mother as well. "I still got to send her flower, too." Green said.

Green says he puts his sisters to work, cousins, and potentially anyone who even visits. He is grateful for those who volunteer to chip in. "Without them, there really could be no Greenery. They're really helping me to be a better florist."

He opened the shop about a year and a half ago. He said he noticed while working at a funeral home in Gadsden County, that many of the floral arrangements had to come from outside counties. Green said that encouraged him to open a floral shop in his hometown. He said he's the first male floral business owner in Quincy.

Green said, "That's where it came from, just seeing the need. I believe that if you're going to establish a business, you need to establish a business that is needed; and produce a good product and produce excellent customer services. I'm very key about customer services."

The Greenery is opened until 6 p.m. Saturday, May 13th and closed on Sunday, Mother's Day.

The shop is located at 100 N. Adams Street in Quincy--(850) 662-4679

The estimate for Mother's Day spending on flowers this year is $2.6 billion nationwide.

Aside from flowers, Americans forecast to spend about $5 billion on jewelry for Mother's Day, $4.2 billion on special outings, and $2.5 billion on gift cards.
