According to arrest documents, the victim told police he and three friends drove to the Whataburger at 1701 West Tennessee Street in the early morning hours of July 30.

The victim said a group of people were standing outside the restaurant and one person began to make threatening statements towards the victim and his friends. The victim said he got out of his vehicle and confronted the group, and was struck in the face.
