MARIANNA, Fla. (WCTV) -- A man has been arrested in Jackson County on assault and battery charges.
According to the Marianna Police Department, 37-year-old Shawnest Ivey forcibly entered a residence and assaulted the resident. He then armed himself with a knife once inside and threatened the victim.
Officers say Ivey committed battery on the victim and the victim's small child with a kitchen pot, stole the victim's vehicle and fled the scene before officers arrived.
A deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on the stolen car and arrested Ivey without incident on Sunday afternoon.
Ivey is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, burglary while armed, aggravated abuse of a child, domestic battery, depriving the use of 911, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft over $300 and criminal mischief over $1,000.
