MARIANNA, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Marianna Police Department says a man is at a local hospital after being hit by a train in the area of Orange Street Thursday evening.
MPD says it received a report of a pedestrian being hit by a train around 2:28 p.m. Thursday. An officer arrived at the scene and found a black male underneath a stopped train.
Officials say it appeared the man had suffered serious injuries from the incident.
Marianna Fire and Rescue, along with Jackson County Fire and Rescue, arrived on the scene within minutes and began to give aid to the man and was able to remove him from under the train.
He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital by helicopter. It is not known what condition the man is in at this time.
Officials say the incident is under active investigation.
