TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A man who was arrested following a shooting at the La Quinta Inn on North Monroe Street in 2017 has been found guilty.

28-year-old Ashley Dixon was found guilty at trial of attempted second degree murder with a firearm and grand theft.

In June 2017, officers with the Tallahassee Police Department responded to the La Quinta Inn at 2905 North Monroe Street in reference to a shooting. At the scene, officers found one victim who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.

According to arrest documents, Dixon met the victim at the hotel for sex. When the victim asked Dixon to leave, he refused. Police say Dixon raped the victim before shooting him as he tried to run away. Dixon then stole the victim's phone and cash.
