TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- More than 100 lawmakers are at the capitol making important decisions that will affect the future of all Floridians. We’ve profiled the senators and representatives working for you in Tallahassee and our surrounding counties. Here’s what we learned from our Q&A with State Representative Loranne Ausely.
WCTV: Who are and what district do you represent?
Rep. Ausley: State Representative Lorrane Ausely, District 9.
Where did you grow up?
Loranne Ausley, State Representative Grown up, pretty much my whole life here in Tallahassee.
What is your occupation outside of lawmaking?
I am an attorney and I do a lot of community work, in and around a lot of non-profits.
What school did you go to?
I graduated from Leon High School and went to college and law school in Virginia.
Tell us about your family.
My husband is also an attorney, has an intellectual property practice here in Tallahassee. We have a 16-year-old son, who is also at Leon High School. He's a third generation Leon Lion and in the ninth grade.
What are some of your hobbies?
I like to do anything that is outside. I'm an athlete, I'm a tri-athlete. So I swim, bike, run and that gives me the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful that we have in around Tallahassee and around north Florida.
What is one piece of legislation you’ll be focusing on this session?
Obviously for us hurricane Michael was a big issue, not just here in Leon Co. but particularly for our neighbors to the west. So making sure we that stays at the forefront of our decision making is number one and always looking out for state employees and public education.
