MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (WCTV) -- Moody Air Force Base officials say an airman assigned to the base passed away late last week in North Charleston, South Carolina.
According to officials, Senior Airman Sebastian Jenkins, 23, was found unresponsive in his hotel room at the La Quinta Inn on Friday morning.
Moody officials also say Jenkins was off-duty at the time, and had just returned from a 6-month deployment this month.
He was a member of the 822nd Base Defense Squadron fire team.
South Carolina authorities are conducting an investigation into Jenkins' death.
"This is a very sad time for the 822nd Base Defense Squadron as we mourn this loss of a team member," said Maj Julia Jefferson, 822nd Base Defense Squadron commander.
Jenkins is survived by his mother and father.
The Charleston County Coroner says an autopsy and toxicology report is underway.
