Bicyclist killed in collision with motorcycle

ALACHUA CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- A female bicyclist was killed Saturday night when she was struck by a motorcycle in Alachua County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of US 27 and SW 30th Avenue.

The crash report states that a man driving a motorcycle north on US 27 hit a woman riding a bicycle.

The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries. FHP has identified the woman as 21-year-old Yadira Peres.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital with non-life threatening, but serious injuries. Charges are pending an investigation.
