ORLANDO, Fla. (WCTV) -- North Florida Christian captured their eighth football title in school history by defeating Champagnat Catholic, 28-20, on Friday for the 2A title in Orlando.
All season long, NFC's motto has been "Chasin' 8," and they met their goal on Friday.
The Eagles started the day well, as TJ Ward took home a pick six that put NFC up, 7-0, early.
NFC quarterback JD Jerry did his part, rushing for over 70 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles defense found trouble in the second half, allowing 14 points and allowing Champagnat to drive late in the game, but the Eagles forced a turnover on downs to seal the eight-point victory.

"It still hasn't hit me I don't think," NFC head coach Steve Price said after the game. "I'm just so proud of these kids. I think the thing we need to learn through football is overcoming adversity because there's so much adversity in life our kids have done that all year and I'm so so proud of them."
Jerry followed his coach, saying their victory is for everyone in Tallahassee that supported the team all season long.
NFC's win makes it a Big Bend sweep at the state championships, after Madison County won their second-straight title on Thursday.
Next week, three local Georgia teams will play or state titles, as Clinch County, Bainbridge and Colquitt will all be looking to bring hardware home from Atlanta.
