LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) -- Doors opened on a new place to play in Lowndes County on Wednesday.
A new community center opened in Naylor, about fifteen miles east of Valdosta. The center is located at Riley-Ledford Park and features a meeting area, kitchen and bathrooms.
County leaders said it will give the community space to hold public meetings, as well as special events and private parties.
The project is about fifteen years in the making. Organizers said it will bring new opportunities to the small town.
"It's a community, it has deep roots, many generations of families that still live in the Naylor community. It was extremely important to them as they continue to raise their families, generation after generation and be able to enjoy this facility," said Lowndes County Chairman Bill Slaughter.
The $250,000 project was paid for with funds from SPLOST VII. VLPRA can be contacted for reservations.
