Noles preparing to open conference play against well-rounded Cavs
January 3, 2019
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Florida State basketball opens a new season this weekend as ACC play begins on the road for the Seminoles against #4 Virginia.
If FSU's ACC schedule plays out as their non-conference schedule did, Noles fans should get ready for something pretty darn special come March.
FSU ended non-conference play on Tuesday picking up their 12th win of the season against Winthrop and enter ACC play with just one loss and with a #9 ranking.
Leonard Hamilton's squad will be tested against a Cavaliers team that has yet to drop a contest this season and who's closest game was a six-point win against #24 Maryland in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Virginia's strength, as it is most every year, is on the defensive end; the 'Hoos are allowing just 51 points a game, the best mark in the nation.
But, this year, UVA has an offense that can score as well and, as FSU will tell you, the Cavs might be the most well-rounded team the Noles have faced all year.
"They are extremely patient and they reverse the ball several times," Hamilton said. "That might not be who we are which means we need to be sure we're finishing our plays and try to be the best Florida State team we can be."
