FSU legend helps raise money for a new school gym in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Some college football coaching royalty appearing in Tallahassee Thursday evening, helping raise funds for a local school.

Current Miami head coach and former FSU assistant Mark Richt appearing via video for Community Christian School's 'Commitment to Character' Dinner.

Legendary former FSU head Coach Bobby Bowden, also speaking at the event to help raise funds for a new gym.

Coach Bowden says faith and new facilities help young athletes build for the future, "He can't do it without it, he has to have facilities, he's gotta have a gymnasium. They need a gymnasium here, and that's what their focus is on right now. I think the people will cooperate and contribute money to build a basketball arena."

The goal is to raise the money in time for next year's 40th anniversary.

Commander Dennis Baker with Florida’s Veterans Foundation was another special speaker.
