The shooting took place at 10:30 a.m. at the Aqua Palms Apartments at 1600 Old Bainbridge Road Police say it happened in building number two.

We spoke to several people who live in the Aqua Palms Apartments and in the nearby area. One man who lives in the complex said he knew about the shooting but didn't see anything or hear any gunshots. He also didn't know who might have been involved.

Throughout the afternoon, a forensics truck and another patrol vehicles pulled into the complex. TPD says the Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.

"When they arrived on scene, they saw a subject that was suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately tired to give medical attention to the subject, but he later passed away from his injuries. Right now it is being treated as a homicide as all of our shootings are," said Damon Miller, Public Information Officer for TPD.

Officer Miller added that the shooter is not at large, but there still is an open and active investigation at this time. Police are not releasing the name of the person who was killed or identifying any others who were involved in the shooting.
