Troopers identify man killed in crash on Veterans Memorial Drive

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a driver who was killed in a crash Saturday night on Veterans Memorial Drive.

Trooper say the victim is 26-year-old Justin Brandon Stephens, of Monticello.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 11:12 p.m. on Veterans Memorial Drive, just north of Old Oak Trail in Leon County.

The crash report states that Stephens was not wearing a seatbelt.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Veterans Memorial Drive.

According to officials, the driver was traveling south on Veterans Memorial Drive when they suddenly crossed the northbound travel lane and drove onto the east shoulder of the roadway. FHP says the driver over-corrected, causing the car to crash into a fence and a tree before bursting into flames.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene. Troopers have yet to positively identify the victim.
