TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Sunday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on North Monroe Street just north of Lakeshore Drive in Leon County.
The crash report states that a driver in a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on North Monroe Street when they approached a pedestrian walking north alongside the road on the paved shoulder. FHP says the car drifted out of the travel lane and struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, 34-year-old Andrew Chester of Tallahassee, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Equinox was not injured. FHP says charges are pending an investigation.
The northbound lanes of North Monroe Street were shutdown for approximately three hours.
