PELHAM, Ga. (WCTV) -- Tuesday night, word began spreading fast following a double-fatal shooting. Many people rode by the scene at the intersection of Eddie Bum Jackson Way and Cannon Street in disbelief.

“What!" one person exclaimed. Another neighbor said, “I was knocked off my feet."

"It's very unusual for gunplay to play out like that in Pelham, things like that don't happen around here," said Dwight Randall

Randall’s belief is one that was once true.

In the last 10 years, police say there have only been three murders. The last shooting with multiple fatalities was more than 40 years ago.

Tuesday afternoon’s crime scene is changing all of that.

"I’m hurting. It makes you think no matter where you are no community is immune from violence,” Dwight explained.

Dwight said for him, what hurts the most is looking at crime scene tape and being reminded how much has changed.

"When I was coming up we used to fight, have arguments and fight. Then we would play together, play basketball. Now, the kid, they run for the guns and it’s very sad."
