TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- An armed man was arrested over the weekend following a disturbance at a Tallahassee sports bar.
The Tallahassee Police Department says around 2:14 a.m. Sunday, officers were made aware of a physical disturbance at Play Sports Bar, located at 2020 West Pensacola Street.
Witnesses told officers that a man who had been kicked out of the bar was possibly going to his vehicle to retrieve a firearm. Officers intercepted the man, who was holding a black handgun in his right hand, before he reentered the business.
The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Gerald N. Rhymes.
Rhymes was booked into the Leon County Detention Facility on charges of disorderly conduct, improper exhibition of a firearm and a concealed carry violation.
WCTV spoke with the owner of Play Sports Bar, who described the situation as an isolated incident. The owner stated that the bar staffs paid TPD officers for security, and they were already on-hand during the disturbance and were able to act quickly to stop the suspect.
The owner also said that the situation was a bad choice by one person and does not in any way describe the bar.
