TAMPA, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tampa Bay Rays are reportedly in agreement to trade outfielder and Rickards High School alum Mallex Smith to the Seattle Mariners.
The deal was first reported by Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times and later confirmed by The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Source confirms #Rays are in agreement with #Mariners on Zunino trade, pending a medical review. Per @RyanDivish, deal is Zunino and Guillermo Heredia to Rays for Mallex Smith. TB had acquired Smith from SEA as part of Drew Smyly trade in Jan. 2017.— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) November 8, 2018
In the deal, the Rays will reportedly get catcher Mike Zunino and outfielder Guillermo Heredia.
Smith played in 141 games for Tampa in 2018, his second year with the Rays, slashing .296/.367/.406 with two home runs and 40 RBI.
Smith was previously with the Mariners for a brief time in early 2017, when he was traded to Seattle from the Braves but he was traded to Tampa soon after, never suiting up for the M's.
Zunino has spent his entire six-year career with the Mariners and posted a career year in 2017, hitting .251 with 25 home runs and 64 RBI.
Heredia played in 125 games for the Mariners last season, slashing .236/.318/.342 with five home runs and 19 RBI.
