GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office is alerting residents to a recent scam targeting flood damage victims.
GCSO says scammers are calling and saying they will be assessing flood damage at homes where owners are not aware of any damages.
"Please be aware of strangers who come by your homes and those who you are talking to on the phone," officials said in a news release.
Authorities are reminding residents not to give out any personal information over the phone.
If you receive a phone call of this nature, you are urged to hang up and call your local law enforcement agency.
