VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- On Thursday, volunteers and a national non-profit made one Valdosta woman's wizarding wish a reality.
Nancy Jones is a long-term patient at PruittHealth Crestwood. Her wish was to spend a day with her favorite animals. On Thursday, the non-profit Second Wind Dreams made her dream come true, turning Wild Adventures in to the Emerald City.
"She's always loved the Wizard of Oz, she's always loved Dorothy," said Erica Thrift, PruittHealth Activities Director. "She's amazing, she's very friendly, she's helpful."
The organization works to change society's perception of aging by making the dreams of seniors happen.
"Making sure they have a quality of life, and that they get to live out their dreams and get to do things that they never thought they would ever do," said Leslie Fennell with PruittHealth.
'We try to keep them alive, keep them doing things, keep them active, keep their brains working so that they can have a really good quality of life," Thrift said.
Nancy's dream was to spend a day as Dorothy on a Wild Adventure. While there was no tin man in sight, the organization helped to make Nancy some new friends along the way.
Wild Adventures staff said they feel honored to help Nancy live out her dream.
PruittHealth said her dream could continue Friday with a hot air balloon ride.
