QUINCY, Fla. (WCTV) -- Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young is making his annual stride for breast cancer awareness.

Sheriff Young walked the entire span of Gadsden County on Friday. Dozens of his staffers and community members joined in, starting at 6:00 a.m. in Chattahoochee, and ending around 6 p.m. in Midway.

This year, the group stopped in the middle of the walk to recognize Christopher Walker's mother and widow. Walker was a Gadsden County man who died in June from breast cancer.

His widow, Marva Walker, said, "That's devastating news. But, one thing about it, he didn't have to deal with it alone. When you have somebody there that can help you deal with it, it makes it a little bit easier."

Walker's wife says Christopher had breast cancer for 14 years but didn't know it until the last two years of his life. She wants to bring awareness to breast cancer in men.
