Skateboarding package thief caught on camera

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Leon County Sheriff's Office is looking for a package thief who was caught on camera.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 24 in the Russel's Pond neighborhood off of North Monroe Street.

Surveillance video shows a suspect on a skateboard retrieving a package from the victim's mailbox, going to the front door and then leaving with the package still in hand.

This time of year, thieves are paying attention to deliveries. One way to help keep them secure, is to have them delivered to a place where you know someone will be home, for example, your place of business. This video shows an individual on Saturday, November 24th in the Russel's Pond neighborhood, riding a skateboard, retrieve a package from someone's mailbox, go to the door, and leave with the package still in hand. Investigators are reminding residents that thieves are on the lookout for holiday deliveries and that having packages delivered to a place of business or a residence where someone will be home during the day may help deter thefts.
