Authorities identify man found dead near Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WCTV) -- Authorities in South Georgia have identified the man found dead in Decatur County late last week.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Joshua Lee Owens, 33, was found just outside of Bainbridge city limits in the 2100 block of Dothan Road on Thursday.

Officials say that preliminary autopsy results indicate that his death was not a homicide, but they are still waiting for toxicology results and further testing to determine the cause of death.

GBI says that the investigation is still active and ongoing.

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WCTV) -- The Decatur County Sheriff's Office and GBI are investigating a death after a body was found near Bainbridge.

According to GBI, a body was found in a wooded area in the 2100 block of Dothan Road on Thursday.

The body was transported to the GBI crime lab in Macon for an autopsy and the person's identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification.

GBI says the investigation is active and ongoing and agents are still pursuing leads.
