GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- Members of a Gadsden County family are counting their blessings after a close call in Sunday's storm.
A tree fell onto their home along Pat Thomas Parkway, crashing through two rooms. Four people were inside. The homeowner says the lights flickered out when they heard the tree come through the roof.
His wife and disabled granddaughter were in bed in one of the rooms where the ceiling caved in. They were covered in debris but otherwise okay.
The family is not alone, as people pick up from Sunday's violent storms. There's damage along Pat Thomas Parkway near Cox Lane and along High Bridge Road.
The sheriff's office says about 1,500 Gadsden County households lost power at the height of the storm, but only a handful of houses are still without service as of Monday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
Gadsden County is among the locations where National Weather Service teams will survey damage. Those NWS crews will estimate wind speeds and whether there was a tornado in the area.
