Police: Tallahassee man linked to third crime in statewide spree

MIAMI, Fla. (WCTV) – The man accused of a burglary in Tallahassee, and a rape and kidnapping in Casselberry, is also suspected in a violent home invasion in South Miami.
Investigators believe 32-year-old Benjamin Hovan broke into a retired woman’s home in South Miami on the 4th of July, pistol-whipped her and robbed her.
He stole a 2006 silver Mercedes Benz from the victim, as well as an expensive bracelet and ring, police say. South Miami investigators say surveillance cameras in the area captured Hovan.
Hovan was arrested Thursday in Titusville, for burglarizing an apartment in Casselberry, holding two women at knifepoint and raping one of the women on June 30th.
On Friday, police released body camera video showing Hovan running from officers before being tasered and taken into custody.
Hovan’s last known address is in Tallahassee, where police say he was caught on a surveillance camera June 28th peering into a window before burglarizing a home.
Investigators say they don’t know how or why he ended up in South Miami.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The suspect in a recent home burglary in Tallahassee and a home invasion and rape investigation in Central Florida has been apprehended.
32-year-old Benjamin Hovan has been arrested by Titusville Police.
, Titusville police officers saw Hovan pumping gas with a stolen car around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and attempted to capture him. Hovan fled on foot and was shot with a stun gun before he was arrested, police said.
Hovan received a medical evaluation before being brought to the Brevard County Jail, where he will await extradition to Seminole County.
Police say DNA evidence helped them identify Hovan as the suspect in a home invasion and rape in Caselberry, Florida on Saturday.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department says a suspect in a recent home burglary in Tallahassee is now wanted in connection to a rape investigation out of the Orlando area.
Authorities are looking for 32-year-old Benjamin Hovan, who is from Tallahassee.
Police say Hovan is accused of raping a woman during a home invasion on Saturday in Casselberry, Florida, located northeast of Orlando. Hovan allegedly forced his way into an apartment, held two women at knifepoint, and sexually assaulted one of them. Police say he then kidnapped the women, forcing them to drive to a nearby Publix and withdraw money out of an ATM.
Police say Hovan fled in the victim's 2006 Toyota Matrix, which was found abandoned in Maitland on Tuesday morning.
Tallahassee Police have now confirmed that Hovan is also the suspect accused of
in the 2300 block of Tupelo Terrace just a day or so before the Casselberry attack.
Authorities say Hovan is at large and anyone who sees him is urged not to approach him and to instead call 911 immediately.
