TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Office of Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Plant City Police Department have announced an arrest in connection with a November death of a Plant City resident.

Officials say 27-year-old Victor Valentin is in custody for allegedly dealing heroin mixed with fentanyl, which led to the death of a 64-year-old man.

Authorities say PCPD began an investigation into Valentin for alleged drug dealing in an apartment complex. Officials say they were informed by sources that several individuals were entering and exiting the apartment within a short period of time, which is consistent with the sale of illegal drugs.

According to officials, investigators obtained a search warrant seeking data from a cell phone that belonged to the deceased man, which revealed several text and Facebook messages between him and Valentin, which involved discussions of the sale and trade of illegal drugs and prescription medication.

Valentin has been charged with one count of murder in the second-degree, sale and position of heroin and fentanyl and maintaining a dwelling for drug sales and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
