South Florida man killed in Suwannee County crash

SUWANNEE CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- A man was killed in a crash involving a semi truck Friday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:32 p.m. on CR-249 near CR-132 in Suwannee County.

The crash report states that 24-year-old Russell Albert Thom III of Miami, Florida, was driving south on CR-249 when he failed to yield to a semi-truck traveling west on CR-132. The semi truck, driven by 56-year-old Jasper resident Dwayne White, collided with the left side of Thom's vehicle.

Thom was pronounced dead at the scene. White was taken to Shands UF Health in serious condition.

The crash is under investigation by FHP.
