TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Crews with the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in the 1800 block of Nekoma Court Saturday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched just after 1:25 p.m. and found thick smoke and fire coming from the building.

Firefighters managed to quickly put out the fire and rescue several pets from the building. TFD says one child was rescued from the apartment building by a neighbor before crews arrived.

Leon County Emergency Medical Services says it transported two people to a local facility.

The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage and is currently under investigation.
