Public information officer Damon Miller says the body was found in between Baker's Place Plaza on South Adams Street and the building behind it on South Monroe Street.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — The Tallahassee Police Department has released new details involving a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in the 1900 block of South Monroe Street.

TPD says investigators have discovered that a party was being held at Clippers Barbershop on South Adams Street when, during the party, a verbal altercation ensued between some of the attendees but had ended prior to the victim's arrival.

Officials say while people were gathered outside of the business, gunfire caused havoc and sent people fleeing for safety.

Authorities say an adult and a small five-year-old child were sitting inside a car which was struck by gunfire, but neither were injured.

TPD says witnesses later began to search for the victim, who was a friend to some at the party, who was last seen running away from the business but was found in a wooded area on South Monroe Street.

Officials are asking anyone who was in attendance of the party and anyone else with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200. If you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers (850) 574-TIPS.
