TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department has made an arrest in a shooting that happened early Saturday morning.

TPD responded to reports of a shooting at the Mission Grove Apartments at 2616 Mission Road around 3:52 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders provided medical attention to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were able to determine that the suspect, 24-year-old Lakedra Carter, entered the apartment unannounced and began to fight with a person inside. While being pulled away from the fight, Carter produced a handgun and fired one time, striking the victim.

Police say Carter then fled to another unit in the complex before eventually exiting the apartment and running from officers. She was ultimately apprehended and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.

Carter is facing charges of armed burglary, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed firearm.
