TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The spring comes to a close for the Florida State football team this Saturday with the annual playing of the Garnet and Gold Game at Doak Campbell Stadium.
While the spring game is still Noles vs. Noles, something the team has been doing since the spring commenced last month, it will provide an opportunity to add an element that has been absent all month; fans.
Saturday will be an opportunity to see the improvements from Willie Taggart's year one to his year two.
This past weekend, the team held their final scrimmage of camp. Taggart said both sides have been competing hard, but overall, it was the defense who won the day.
Taggart said the defense played fast, physical and played solely on relying on one another.
"I think when you do that it really shows you how much the guys know without the coaches being in their ear and trying to move them, getting them to go where they need to and for me, personally, I want our guys on the defensive side of the ball to be able to line up and play without coaches yelling at them," Taggart said. "So, it's important, especially when you're going against tempo teams, to get back and get lined up."
FSU's spring game starts at 4 p.m. this Saturday.
