TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) --The Tallahassee Police Department is continuing to investigate a death near 1700 Joe Louis Street.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. Sunday, officers arrived on scene to find a deceased person lying in the roadway.
TPD confirmed Monday that the victim died from a gunshot wound. Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity.
The case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Police are now asking for information from the public on the case.
TPD Officer Damon Miller said, "We say that the public is our boots on the ground, so to speak. The public sees something we can’t see because we’re not always able to be everywhere at one time. So, a lot of the information we get actually helps us to solve not only current cases, but also past cases as well."
Investigators are urging anyone with any information to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
