Tallahassee Police arrest man on weapons, drug charges

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department arrested a man on drug and weapons charges in the 2200 block of Magnolia Circle Tuesday.

The Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Squad was conducting a proactive patrol in the area around 7 p.m. when officers noticed a vehicle with several occupants and spoke with them.

Officials say during the conversation, officers became aware of drug activity inside the vehicle and developed probable cause to conduct a search.

Officers confiscated over 500 grams of cannabis, a loaded 9mm handgun and over $13,000 in cash. The items were impounded at the Tallahassee Police Department as evidence.

Officials arrested the driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Christopher Young.

He has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and carrying a concealed firearm while unlicensed. He was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
