TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department has confirmed that a 45-year-old woman who was pushing a stroller died as a result of a pedestrian crash on West Tennessee Street and White Drive.

Her grandchild is in serious condition.

The driver was traveling westbound on West Tennessee Street when they swerved to avoid what they believed to be an imminent crash. Their vehicle left the roadway and struck the woman and her grandchild. The woman died at the scene.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this article stated the woman who died was the child's mother. The article has been corrected to say it was the child's grandmother who was the pedestrian that died in the crash.
