Leon County Deputies arrest four following Wednesday night shooting, crash

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Leon County Sheriff's Office has arrested four teens, three of which are juveniles, in connection to a Wednesday night crash at Tharpe Street and Blountstown St.

LCSO says around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies were in the area of Blountstown St. when they observed a red Kia Optima driving erratically.

Deputies say the vehicle turned from Allison Marie Court and began to drive northbound onto Blountstown St. towards Tharpe St. and hit a vehicle driving east.

Officials say the Kia then hit a marked Tallahassee Police Department patrol ca and came to a rest in a ditch on the southside of Tharpe St.

Authorities say following the crash, all occupants of the vehicle exited the car and ran.

Deputies say two were caught almost immediately outside the vehicle and two more were caught nearby.

LCSO says the deputies found the vehicle had been reported stolen to TPD earlier in the day and located three firearms in the vehicles.

According to officials, during the time the vehicle was fleeing, the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a 911 call from the are of Allison Marie Court in reference to a shooting that had occurred.

Deputies say a 16-year-old victim had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower leg and witnesses informed officials that they saw the occupants of a red Kia shooting at the victim.

Officials say the three juveniles have been taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

LCSO says the fourth suspect, 18-year-old Shemar Shorter, was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.

All four suspects are facing charges of attempted felony murder, grand theft, grand theft auto, resisting arrest without violence and possession of firearm by juvenile delinquent (three counts).

All four suspects have been previously arrested for armed burglary, burglary, grand theft of a firearm, grand theft of a motor vehicle, carrying concealed firearm and felony fleeing and eluding.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Leon County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic crash that occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Tharpe St. and Bloutnstown St.

Deputies say an LCSO SPIDER unit spotted a car driving erratically and attempted to stop it.

Authorities say within minutes, the vehicle ran a stop sign and hit a Tahoe truck, spun out and hit a marked Tallahassee Police car and ended up in the ditch.

Officials say no one in the Tahoe or TPD car were injured.

LCSO says six suspects ran from the car, which was determined to be stolen.

Deputies say four suspects have been caught and they are actively searching for the other two.
