TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee Police Department provided an update Friday afternoon regarding the deadly shooting one week ago at Hot Yoga Tallahassee.
Two women were killed and five others were injured when a gunman opened fire inside the yoga studio during an evening class on Friday, Nov. 2.
The victims were identified as 61-year-old Nancy Van Vessem and 21-year-old Maura Binkley.
Police say the gunman died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
At Friday's press briefing, police provided some new information about the gunman, 40-year-old Scott Beierle.
Police say Beierle arrived in Tallahassee on Halloween night. Police are still trying to retrace Beierle's steps and determine what he was doing in the days leading up to the shooting.
We've also learned that Beierle carried out the attack with 9mm handgun, which police say he purchased legally. However, Beierle did not have a concealed weapons permit.
At this point, police say there is still no direct link between Beierle and the victims or the yoga studio.
TPD says investigators have conducted approximately 100 interviews over the last week, including with all of the surviving victims and family members.
The investigation is ongoing.
