TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — The Tallahassee Police Department says two people are dead after a fatal stabbing Wednesday morning led to an officer-involved shooting on Holton Street.
Officers were on scene at the Leon Arms Apartments, which is in the 2500 block of Holton Street, a little after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
According to TPD, officers were called to investigate a stabbing in the area. Police say a victim died from the injuries they suffered in the stabbing.
Responding officers saw a woman who matched the description of the stabbing suspect nearby, according to TPD.
The woman was holding a gun, TPD says.
"The suspect then made a move consistent with using the firearm against the officer, who fired their issued handgun, fatally striking the adult female suspect," the department said in a release.
She died from the gunshot wounds, and the officer was not hurt in this shooting, TPD says.
The officer who fired their gun has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol for TPD in an officer-involved shooting.
