Tallahassee's Veterans of Foreign Wars host Memorial Day ceremony

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Here in Tallahassee, Veterans of the Foreign Wars Post 3308 hosting their own observance for their fallen comrades.

Dozens gathered at the cemetery, placing a flag at each grave.

The service included a VFW Ritual, National Anthem, the Godby High School Air Force Jr. ROTC color guard, gun salute by the Leon County Honor Guard.

Those participating said this is a tradition they don't take lightly.

"It’s a day that we look back and remember all of the people who have given their lives for our freedom. For us to be in here it's our honor and it's also our duty remember them, to respect them, and always honor them,” said Vietnam Veteran Mark Alvarez.

Post 3308 was established in 1947.
