Taxi van cuts off car on I-10, causes crash

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- Two people were seriously injured Thursday afternoon when a taxi van cut in front of their vehicle, causing both cars to leave the roadway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:00 p.m. on Interstate 10 near mile marker 251 in Madison County.

The crash report states that a driver in a Toyota Sienna taxi van was traveling east on I-10 when he cut off a Ford SUV. The driver of the SUV swerved to avoid a collision, but both drivers lost control of their vehicles and traveled off of the roadway.

Two people in the SUV, 65-year-old Phillip Taylor and 67-year-old Brenda Taylor, both of Potts Camp, Mississippi, were transported to Madison Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the taxi van, 55-year-old Lesanu Haile, of Tallahassee, was not injured. He was cited for overtaking and passing a vehicle.
