TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Taylor County School District has announced a change to school scheduling this week in order to allow for a staff safety training day.
Superintendent Danny Glover Jr. sent the following message to parents:
"In light of recent events, the Taylor County School District has been working with emergency management agencies throughout the county to ensure the safety of our schools. Myself and the school board members find it imperative that all of our staff members are properly trained and are all on the same page. Safety is our number one priority.
"After careful consideration and discussion, we have opted to switch our April 27 planning day to this Friday, March 9, 2018. Therefore, this Friday will be a student holiday. We will use this day for staff safety training. We will plan on a regular school day Friday, April 27, 2018. We feel that this is in the best interest of our students and staff.
"March 9th will now be the Teacher Planning/Student Holiday and on this date we will conduct a safety training for all staff.
"April 27th will be a normal working/school day.
"Unfortunately we could not notify you earlier as we have just confirmed the trainer for Friday.
"Thank you for your cooperation and understanding."
