TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A Tallahassee teen is being charged as an adult, accused of robbing a woman of her cellphone and money, then posting nude photos from the victim’s cellphone to social media.
According to arrest documents, on December 16, police responded to the 800 block of Basin Street for a report of a robbery. The victim told police that an unknown male had approached her and demanded her belongings, threatening her with what appeared to be a small black handgun sticking out of his pocket.
The victim said the suspect then took her phone and began rummaging through her purse.
The victim says when she begged the suspect not to take all of her belongings because it was her birthday, the suspect told her he would let her go if she performed oral sex on him. The victim refused and the suspect grabbed her arm and demanded her cellphone passcode. In fear for her life, the victim gave the suspect her passcode before he fled the scene with her phone and cash.
During an investigation, police tracked the location of the phone to an area on Joe Louis Street. Officers located a teen walking in the area, matching the suspect's description. The teen, identified as 17-year-old Jalen Freeman, was detained by police. The victim was brought in to confirm that Freeman was the individual who had robbed her.
Freeman was searched by police and found to have the victim's phone and cash in his pocket. Police say Freeman also had a large butane lighter in his pocket that resembled a handgun when partially concealed.
Investigators revealed that the suspect had used the stolen cellphone to post nude photos of the victim from her phone to the victim's Instagram account.
Freeman was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of robbery, unauthorized access to a computer system, and sexual cyber harassment.
On Wednesday, the State Attorney's Office signed a request to charge Freeman as an adult in the case.
Freeman was booked into the Leon County Detention Facility. He is being held on $35,000 bond.
