TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- One local organization held a tennis tournament this weekend as a way to raise money for charity.
The 10th annual Catholic Charities Tennis Tournament took place Saturday at the Forest Meadows Tennis Complex on Meridian Road.
The event hosted athletes young and old from around town, which included students from St. John Paul II Catholic School, Lincoln High School and Leon High School.
The event is a way to come out and have fun for a good cause, organizers said.
"It's so inspiring to see many of our youth and younger athletes coming out," said tournament chair and member of Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida Candace Bunker. "It's the players that come here year after year. The success of this tournament is because of the players and local business community who support it year after year."
All of the proceeds help needy families through programs such as emergency assistance, disaster relief and education, organizers said. The tournament has raised more than $60,000 since it began.
