CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla.(WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol says a pickup truck was traveling west on Trice Lane in Crawfordville when the driver lost consciousness.
The truck crossed all lanes of Crawfordville Highway before busting through the front wall of Ms. Maria’s Grooming.
Amazingly, no people or dogs in the store were hurt, the passenger of the car was okay, and the driver suffered only minor injuries.
FHP says the driver had a medical issue, which caused him to become unconscious, driving across the busy highway and running into the side of the building.
Plywood has been put up to cover the hole and a support wall has been put in place inside.
The supervisor of the complex, Bruce Ranew, says Maria was the only one inside at the time of the crash.
"She was in the back room with the dogs so she was blessed. She said it sounded like a bomb went off so once she came out here she couldn't see it was real dusty," Ranew says.
Carolyn Kent was working at the restaurant Verlie Q, which is next to the store. She says they heard the crash and thought it was just thunder.
"I was shocked, I actually was like there's a truck in the building! Everyone in the restaurant ran out it was just, everything stops its unbelievable actually," Kent says.
According to the complex supervisor, he believes fixing the place will cost at least $50,000.
Their next step is to meet with a contractor to work out a repair schedule, so Maria can get back to business.

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The owners of a Crawfordville pet grooming business got a big surprise on Wednesday when a truck crashed through the front of their store.
One of the building's supervisors says that two men in a pickup truck crashed through Ms. Maria's Grooming in the 2500 block of Crawfordville Highway just before noon.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the pickup was traveling west on Trice Lane when the driver suffered a medical episode that caused him to lose consciousness. The vehicle then went through the stop sign, traveling across US 319, and crashed into the store.
The pickup truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The passenger was not injured.
The truck remained in the storefront for several hours as crews worked to stabilize the building with support beams.
The business sustained significant damage and it is not clear when it will reopen.
