Two arrested following deadly shooting in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. (WCTV) -- The Albany Police Department has arrested two people in connection with a weekend nightclub shooting.

APD says they've arrested 27-year-old Johnny Smith and 22-year-old Justin Ellis.

Officials say they responded to the Legends Night Club on East Broad Avenue around 3:09 a.m. on Saturday to investigate a homicide.

According to APD, they say their preliminary investigation revealed that, following an altercation inside, an unknown person fired several shots and struck two people.

Officials say a male victim, 31-year-old Jack Williams III, was transported to the hospital and later died from his injuries. A female victim was also taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.

APD says both Smith and Ellis have been taken to the Doughtery County Jail for booking.

Smith has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Ellis has been charged with murder.
